I-League clubs seek help from Asian Football Confederation (AFC)!

On July 18, 2019, a total of six I-League clubs in Mohun Bagan AC, Quess East Bengal FC, Churchill Brothers, Minerva Punjab FC, Aizawl FC and Gokulam Kerala FC send a letter seeking help regarding the ongoing Indian Football scenario to the Asian Football Confederation general secretary Dato Windsor John.

In this letter the I-League clubs seeks urgent intervention of the General Secretary of the AFC on the ongoing fiasco in Indian Football. The letter contains as much as 34 points/reasons citing what is going on with Indian Football and how AIFF (All India Football Federation) managed to ruined everything that was good when they made a shady deal with Reliance and FSDL. This letter also contains how many teams and tournaments were abandoned due to the negligence and step motherly treatment of AIFF towards them. The six I-League clubs are in this battle against the hypocrisy of the Indian FA to save Indian Football. This letter contains the sensitive MRA between AIFF and FSDL which went public recently and brought reality of this nasty deal that AIFF has made.

The letter also cites that spot distribution for the AFC club competition are also in danger after AIFF made it clear through a press release that the Indian Super League winning club could get the AFC Champions League spot before the meeting between AIFF and the I-League clubs, who raise the issue of “One Nation, One League” in this letter and expressed their intention on what will happen to the I-League clubs and the league itself and seeks help for their sustainability.

Finally, the I-League clubs requested Mr. John to set up an enquiry to probe the manner in which AIFF is functioning and also requested him to kindly look into this matter and provide a roadmap for Indian Football. At the end they also mentioned that if AFC and FIFA are silent on this, the I-League clubs will take this matter to appropriate judicial courts and also CAS, Switzerland if required.
