I-League: DSK Shivajians go into East Bengal encounter looking to win!

In the first of their final two Away games in the League, DSK Shivajians FC travel to Kolkata to take on East Bengal at the Barasat Stadium in Kolkata on Sunday, April 16.

DSK Shivajians have, throughout the season, focused on developing younger players, with First Team Manager Dave Rogers handing I-League debuts to 12 players who until recently have featured for just the club’s academy sides. Coupled with a philosophy which focuses on a system of play characterised by quick, short passing, the side from Pune has moulded itself into an extremely fearless side.

While East Bengal did get the better of DSK Shivajians when they visited the Balewadi Stadium earlier this year, DSK Shivajians will be buoyed by their recent performances which has seen them play free scoring football scoring seven in their last two outings.

A side in transition, DSK Shivajians currently sit in eighth place in the table, with their objective being to improve on last season’s finish, and qualify for the Federation Cup. East Bengal on the other hand, have gone into the run-in with their eyes still firmly set on their maiden I-League title. Such objectives will see both sides go into the game with a must-win mindset.
“We’re a team that try to go out and win every game while playing entertaining football. Every week and every game that we’ve played, I and the team have learnt different lessons. We’ve come to East Bengal, which is a football club with a great tradition and a fantastic set of fans, to win.” said DSK Shivajians First Team Manager Dave Rogers.

The Match is to be played on Sunday, April 16 at 4:30pm at the Barasat Stadium in Kolkata and will be telecast LIVE on TEN 2.
