I-League top scorer Pedro Manzi leaves Chennai City FC for Japan!

Last seasons joint I-League top scorer Pedro Manzi of Spain announced today on Instagram that he is leaving Chennai City FC to join a club in Japan.

31 year old Pedro Javier Manzi Cruz wrote in Spanish on Instagram, “I hate goodbyes … I thought this wouldn’t happen so soon but it’s time to say goodbye to Chennai City FC.”

“It was more than a great year in which we made history winning the I-league.”

“It has been an honor to represent this club as captain.”

“I only have words of thanks to the CCFC fans who have become my family.”

“It has been a difficult decision, but this is football and I leave India to start a new adventure in Japan.”

“Thank you”

31 year old Montevideo-born Pedro Javier Manzi Cruz started his football locally in Uruguay before moving to Spanish LaLiga side RCD Espanyol youth team in Barcelona.

He thereafter played for Universidad de Las Palmas, UD Tijarafe, Atlético Granadilla, Marbella FC, SD Tenisca, UD Ibarra and CE L’Hospitalet.

In 2018 Manzi left Spanish shores to join Chennai City FC with three other Spaniards. Pedro was a key player scoring 19 goals in 21 matches in their I-League title campaign and in the summer had extended his contract but now leaves India for an unnamed club in Japan.
