Independence Day Cup 2017: AIFF U-19 share spoils with Ramhlun North FC; I-League champs Aizawl FC beaten!

Ramhlun North FC were held by the AIFF Elite Academy Under-19 team today at the Independence Day Cup 2017 played in Lammual Stadium in Aizawl. Ramhlun North FC had found an early goal but could not see off their opponents in the second half.

Ramhlun North FC hit the defending U-18 I-League champions in the first minute by taking the lead through a strike from Lalliansanga. Ramhlun North FC had several opportunities to double their lead but they could not add to the scoreline, twice missing glorious opportunities.

The AIFF Elite Academy boys bustled to find the equaliser and they succeeded in the 78th minute when Lalawmpuia headed to give the Indian youngster some respite.

The second match of the day saw former MPL champions Dinthar FC beat I-League champions Aizawl FC with a dramatic late winner.

Aizawl FC had taken the lead through a beautiful freekick from defender Kareem Omolaja Nurain in the 16th minute. Dinthar FC refused to lay quiet and struck back through Lalbiakhlua’s sweet effort from outside the box on the 27th minute.

The second half saw some back and forth action as both teams looked for the winner. And it was Lalnunsanga who struck for Dinthar FC two minutes into stoppage time to give his side all three points.
