India coach Constantine & his staff leave India U-17 boys mesmerised!

It might not be everyday that a Youth Team gets the support staff and even a Head Coach of a Senior National Team. And while Stephen Constantine and his support staff work tirelessly with the Indian Under-17 World Cup Squad gearing for the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup in India, the young Colts are all mesmerised and inspired by Constantine and his team.

Coach Constantine will be working with the Indian Squad along with Sports Scientist Danny Deigan, Goalkeeping Coach Rogerio Ramos, National Team Assistant Coach Shanmugam Venkatesh and AIFF’s Technical Director Savio Mederia until Saturday, February 25.

For the young guns of India the enamour lies in being coached by the same Coach who coaches their idols – working on the same principles and probably getting a taste of life in the Senior National Team setup.

“It is not everyday that we get to learn from a Coach who teaches Sunil Chhetri, Eugeneson Lyngdoh, Sandesh Jhingan and others. It is a huge honour for us to train under him,” said Captain of the Indian U-17 World Cup Squad Suresh Singh.

“Each day we are looking forward to the next training session and to grab whatever knowledge we can from them (Stephen Constantine and the support staff).”

“It is also a chance for us to impress him (Constantine) and show the ability we have,” Suresh smiles.

“Ramos-Sir trains Gurpreet (Singh Sandhu) in the Senior National Team and now he is training me. We are privileged to be working with him and Danny (Deigan),” stated Goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh.

“The training session will certainly make us better as we are learning from the very best in the business.”

“Danny’s (Deigan) use of GPS to track our movements has helped us immensely.”

“We are mesmerised in almost every training session,” Dheeraj added.

Meanwhile, Constantine had earlier said that, “he is happy to help!”

“My purpose is to help them maintain the fitness levels of the boys and it gives us a chance to work on other things as well. I will be able to have close look at them as they could be the players for the future.”
