India coach Constantine visits India Women’s camp for SAFF Women’s Cup!

Indian National Women’s Team Head Coach Sajid Dar said it was a “learning process” as National Men’s Coach Stephen Constantine came visiting at the ongoing Women’s National Team preparatory Camp in Hoshiarpur, Punjab.

“It was indeed a learning process,” stated Sajid to AIFF Media. “In life, you teach someone and learn from someone,” he added. “Constantine’s visit not only benefited the girls but benefited us, coaches, as well. The coaches of the Women’s National Team now have an idea and an understanding of all the modern techniques what is done at the Men’s National Camp.”

Constantine along with National Team Goalkeeping coach Romerio Ramos and sports scientist Danny Deigan had visited the Indian National Women’s Team preparatory Camp which is being held for the forthcoming Women’s SAFF Championship to be held later this month in Siliguri.

“This is the first time the Men’s National Coach came to teach at the Women’s National Camp. I am very grateful to Constantine and his team for that. He is a big name in the coaching profession who has coached all over the World,” Sajid opined. “It was the perfect exchange programme from the National Team Department to the Women’s department.”

“At the outset, I was a bit sceptical of how the girls would react. But it was quite an experience for the girls to work under the National Coach. The girls were taken aback by their commitment,” Sajid informed.

“While Constantine worked on the tactical part, Ramos taught a lot to the Goalkeepers while Danny focussed on the physical side of things. There were no complaints from the girls. They enjoyed every bit of the sessions under Constantine.”

Sajid admitted that despite being the defending champions his Team is under a bit of “pressure” for the SAFF Women’s Championship.

“There’s always that extra bit of expectation when you play at home. But we are ready for the challenge,” he quipped.
