India U-16 boys score 4-1 friendly win over Rot-Weiss Oberhausen U-17s in Germany!

India Under-16sThe Indian Under-17 World Cup squad defeated German Bundesliga Youth League’s Second Division club Rot-Weiß Oberhausen Under-17 4-1 at the Sports School in Duisburg-Wedau in Germany this afternoon.

The Indian Colts were right off the blocks and took a flying start when Abhijit Sarkar tapped home an Aniket Jadhav cross from the left flank in the 4th minute to hand India a solitary goal lead against their opponents.

Although the Indian colts fought for every inch on the ground, it were their German opponents who dominated possession and in the 13th minute they punished the Indian defence as they scored from a counter attack to equalize.

In the 37th minute, the Indian Colts took the lead for the second time in the match when Aniket poked a routine corner kick scenario home, as India went into the tunnel leading 2-1 at the half-time break.

The Indian Colts tried to take an early lead in the second half but were left reeling as Suresh’s shot from inside the box, after Sanjeev’s pass found him clear of the mix, went inches wide of the goal in the 49th minute.

The Indian Colts sealed the match in the 73rd minute when Sanjeev’s free-kick directly crashed into the back of the net to give the Colts a two goal advantage as the scoreline read 3-1 in their favour. Jitendra added more gloss to the scoreline as he scored in the 85th minute to make the scoreline read 4-1 for India.

The Indian defence repelled the German attacks with sheer acumen as the full-time scoreline read 4-1 in India’s favour.
