India U-19s to play back-to-back friendlies against Singapore in Goa!

The Indian Under-19 National Team, after a title-winning run in the U-18 I-League, will face the U-18 National Team of Singapore in two back-to-back matches on June 19 and June 21, 2017 at the Bambolim Stadium in Goa.

Although the Indian Colts set the bar at the domestic level, winning the U-18 I-League for a consecutive third time, Head Coach Floyd Pinto believes clashing against Singapore will present a new challenge to his Team. “We are excited to test ourselves against Singapore. It will be a tough clash for us but the boys will give their cent percent in the matches.”

The task is clearly cut out and Pinto feels the squad is raring to go. “The boys are putting in their hard work. They know the enormity of the task ahead and are ready for any challenge that comes their way.”

The Indian U-19s will be participating in the SAFF U-19 Championship in Bhutan that is slated to kick-off in September 2017, followed by the AFC U-19 Championship Qualifiers, which are slated to kick-off in October in Saudi Arabia.

“We have to work hard in our preparation for the upcoming tournaments and the matches against Singapore provide us with an opportunity to test various iterations in the squad.”

“At the same time, we respect our opponents (Singapore) and we have to be cautious to not get complacent as they (Singapore) possess the tools to hurt us,” he concluded.
