India Women’s Team arrive in Pyongyang ahead of 2018 AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers!

Cold weather and chilly winds greeted the Indian Women’s Senior National Team as the Indian Women reached the capital city of North Korea, Pyongyang on Saturday, April 1, 2017, to start their 2018 AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifying campaign, after travelling just under 30 hours inclusive of airport layovers.

The Indian Women have been clubbed in Group B alongside hosts North Korea, South Korea, Uzbekistan and Hong Kong and will face North Korea in their opening clash on April 3, 2017 at the Kim Jung-II Stadium in Pyongyang.

“The weather is completely opposite of what we had in Goa,” said Sajid Dar, Head Coach of the Indian Women’s Team. “The training sessions which will be conducted will be done keeping in mind the player’s acclimatisation to the cold weather here.”

The Indian Women had a preparatory camp in Goa from March 1 to 31, 2017 and the Women will have their first practice session in Pyongyang tomorrow, April 2.

“It is important that we acclimatise to the weather fast so that we can play our game when we face North Korea in our first match. We look forward to the challenge!” Sajid stated.
