Indian Football impasse continues, but East Bengal builds a strong team for the new season!

While the impasse in Indian football between Indian Super League and I-League continues, Kolkata giants East Bengal Club calmly and quietly have gone about the task of building a strong team for the upcoming 2017/18 season.

The big catch was presented yesterday in new head coach Khalid Jamil and today it was made public that Brazilian physical trainer Djair Miranda Garcia, who had been with archrivals Mohun Bagan, has made the Maidan switch from the Mariners to the red and gold.

With the off field matters sorted, the emphasis now will shift to remaining slots in the squad as nine players still have running contracts in Arnab Kumar Mondal, Gurwinder Singh, Mohammed Rafique, Abinas Ruidas, Cavin Lobo, Samad Ali Mullick, Nikhil Poojary, Deepak Kumar and Suhair V.P.

An Aizawl FC quartett of Mahmoud Al Amna, Lalramchullova, Brandon Vanlalremdika and Laldanmawia Ralte have already confirmed their switch to East Bengal with Mumbai boys Jayesh Rane and Ashutosh Mehta in talks with the club to potentially follow their coach to a three team.

Amongst the other boys signed so far are Tanmoy Ghosh (Mohun Bagan AC), Surabuddin Mullick (Churchill Brothers), Richard Costa (Churchill Brothers), Mirshad (Kerala) and Joby Justin (Kerala State Electrity Board), while seven boys from the clubs youth development program would move up into the senior team in Mehtab Singh, Rahul Ghosh, Bidyasagar Singh, Prakash Sarkar, T. Suranjit Singh, Yami Longvah and Tete Puia.

After years of being unable to win the I-League, East Bengal have been the most active team on the transfer market so far and the club has made it clear that they would like to be the club to beat in the title challenge.

More signing are set to follow as would be those of the other foreigners.

Its good to see that East Bengal club management has not led their ongoing dispute with AIFF and ISL management affect the recruitment of players for the new season. The new East Bengal squad has got several young talented players , mostly from Manipur and Kerala. The fans are keen to see how they perform.

Last year East Bengal could n´t play much in Kolkata due to the unavailability of the Salt Lake stadium which was being overhauled for the U-17 World Cup.So, the fans from Kolkata are restless to see the red and gold brigade in action in Kolkata.
