My INTERVIEW with midfielder Cavin Lobo (East Bengal)!

29 year old Cavin Peter Lobo is an experienced Indian midfielder, who currently is playing his fifths season for Kolkata giants East Bengal Club. I caught-up with him for an interview!

Cavin, it has been a difficult season for you with injuries. Are you fit? How are you feeling at the moment?

No doubt this season has been very difficult for me cause of the injury I had, but now I’m 100% fit to play but was not given a chance to prove myself (by former coach Trevor Morgan) which is very much disappointing for me and to my fans as well.

Would you say it was a lost year for you and your career?
I wouldn’t say this is a lost year to my career.

It’s just that inspite being 100% fit, I wasn’t given a single chance to prove myself so I consider it’s a lost year for me and my fans as well as they missed a chance to see me play.

You have been at East Bengal for close to five years. Have you decided, if you want to stay or move on?
At the moment I haven’t decided about anything yet on this as I have another one year contract with East Bengal, once it’s over than I will come to a decision.

For your clubs and country you have played in different positions on the field. Which is your favourite?
When I play the position doesn’t really matter as long as I give my best on the field but if I have to choose than I would say playing in the midfield is my favourite,

Do you have a favourite goal in your playing career?
There are many goals I’ve scored in my football career so far, among those my favourite is the one where I’ve scored out of two goals in one match in the Indian Super League – Season 1 for Atletico de Kolkata against FC Goa at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda.

You have played for India under current coach Stephen Constantine. But injuries have kept you out of the national team in recent times. Any hopes of getting back into the side?
I feel the chances for me to get back to the Indian team are very less at this moment as this entire I-League season I have played only a single match so far after my injury, so the coach also will not be position to consider my name at this time.

Thanks for the interview!
