ISL-3: FC Pune City score late to hold champions Chennaiyin FC to a 1-1 draw!

fc-pune-city-chennaiyin-fcThe reigning Indian Super League champions Chennaiyin FC were held to a one-all by hosts FC Pune City at the Balewadi Stadium in Pune on Sunday evening.

The champions went ahead in the 28th minute through a goal which had class written all over it! Young left back Jerry Lalrinzuala made a long clearance from the back for Chennaiyin FC with the ball finding India striker Jeje Lalpekhlua, he then beat defender Eduardo Ferreira and scored of a looping ball as Edel Bete was too far off his line to get back to clear the ball. A goal which Jeje wanted to score this way.

The hosts tried to get the equaliser in the first session itself, but an attempt from Jesus Tato went wide and then Jonatan Lucca shot over with Chennaiyin FC taking a 1-0 lead into the break.

The champions had the first chance after the break, but MacPherlin Dudu Omagbemi’s attempt was blocked by keeper Edel Bete before Rahul Bheke denied Hans Mulder a chance on the rebound.

Thereafter FC Pune City looked the better side, but Dramane Traore and Jonatan Lucca wasted numerous chances before Dudu could have put the match to rest in the 79th minute.

The equaliser then came in the 82nd minute of a perfect free kick from substitute Mexican striker Aníbal Zurdo Rodríguez beating Duwayne Kerr in the Chennaiyin FC goal to at least give FC Pune City a home point against the champions in another one-all draw of ISL-3.
