ISL-3: Mumbai City FC suffer home loss to FC Goa!

mumbai-city-fc-fc-goaMumbai City FC suffered their first ever home loss to FC Goa due to a 41st minute Richarlyson Barbosa strike in their Indian Super League – Season 3 match at the Mumbai Football Arena on Friday night.

Nothing much happened in the first half hour as the action was mainly confined to the midfield. The winner for FC Goa came in the 41st minute off a Julio Cesar free-kick from the right, which he played back to a surging Richarlyson Barbosa who bangs in the half volley, a perfect set piece, which left the hosts shocked. FC Goa took the 1-0 lead into the break.

After the break FC Goa had a couple of changes to seal the game. First a free Robin Singh couldn’t tap in an easy chance, while another Julio Cesar free kick was nearly met by the head of Raju Gaikwad.

Thereafter Argentinian Matias Defederico at the other end put the ball just wide on the turn before he went off with an injury as did midfielder Pranoy Halder, which did not help Mumbai City FC’s cause as injuries once more are taking a toll on the squad.

Substitute Jackichand Singh, Sony Norde and Diego Forlan did try their utmost to equalise, but it wasn’t to be for Mumbai City FC as FC Goa picked up their first win of ISL-3 on the night.
