ISL-4: Chennaiyin FC score late to beat FC Pune City!

Former ISL champions Chennaiyin FC scored late through Gregory Nelson to beat FC Pune City 1-0 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Saturday night.

The guests from FC Pune City had the better start into the match, but they failed to score. In the 25th minute, Chennaiyin FC were awarded a penalty for a foul from Adil Khan on Gregory Nelson, but Rene Mihelic’s weak shot was easily saved by keeper Vishal Kaith. The match went into the break goalless.

Things slowed down in the second session with loads of midfield action, but no real chances at both ends until the 83rd minute when substitute Raphael Augusto found Gregory Nelson and he banged the ball into the net past Vishal Kaith for the home team to lead.

FC Pune City tried to equalise in the remaining minutes, but it stayed that way and Chennaiyin FC moved back to the top of the table with now 20 points from 10 matches.
