ISL-4: FC Goa’s Spanish Armada overrun Kerala Blasters in 5-2 win!

FC Goa’s firepower showed its might as their Spaniards scored in a 5-2 win against the Kerala Blasters at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao on Saturday night.

But it wasn’t the start that the Gaurs would have liked as the Kerala Blasters striker Mark Sifneos put the southern side ahead in the 7th minute after another error from FC Goa keeper LAxmikant Kattimani only four minutes after they lost their star striker Dimitar Berbatov very early in the match due to an injury.

But the lead lasted only two minutes as Manuel Lanzarote equalised off a Narayan Das cross and another nine minutes later FC Goa went ahead with again Lanzarote scoring this time off Ferran Corominas.

Things were level again on the half hour mark as Jackichand Singh after combining with Milan Singh scored past Kattimani to make it 2-2. The match continued with chances at both ends, but no more goals were scored until the break.

After the breather, FC Goa sealed the match and the three points within the first 10 minutes through Ferran Corominas’ hattrick, the fastest in the history of the ISL. It all started in the 48th minute, when Lanzarote via Ahmed Jahouh found Corominas, who once again showed his finishing skills to put the Gaurs back ahead.

In the 51st minute it is Brandon Fernandes who finds Corominas and again the Spaniard makes no mistake scoring Goa’s fourth goal of the night. But he wasn’t finished yet as in the 55th minute, a Pesic mistake in the Blasters defence allows Lanzarote to get the ball and he squares it to Corominas to score again.

No more goals came thereafter but both teams, especially FC Goa, had more chances to score in a free flowing encounter, which ended 5-2 in favour of FC Goa against the Kerala Blasters.
