ISL-5: Champions Chennaiyin FC suffer 1-3 loss to FC Goa!

Defending ISL champions Chennaiyin FC suffered a 1-3 home loss to an impressive FC Goa at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Saturday evening.

FC Goa looked dangerous from the start and they took the lead in the 12th minute when midfielder Edu Bedia put the ball past keeper Karanjit Singh.

Things thereafter got a little rough on the field with numerous yellow cards flashed, which seemed to help hosts Chennaiyin FC more, who looked more threatening towards the end of the first session, but FC Goa took the 1-0 lead into the break.

Things changed after the restart as FC Goa’s star striker Ferran Corominas made it 0-2 after 53 minutes with his third goal of the campaign.

While Chennaiyin FC looked to reduce the deficit, FC Goa sealed their win and three points in the 80th minute when defender Mourtada Fall scored of a header.

Chennaiyin FC was only able to score a consolation goal in added time, Eli Sabia headed in a Andrea Orlandi corner as Chennaiyin FC lost 1-3 in the end.

Struggling champions Chennaiyin FC next face NorthEast United FC on October 18, while FC Goa take on Mumbai City FC on October 24.
