ISL-5: Delhi Dynamos look to bounce back against Kerala Blasters!

Delhi Dynamos will look to put the defeat against ATK behind them when they face an in-form Kerala Blasters at Kochi on Saturday evening. Delhi Dynamos come into this game on the back of a 2-1 defeat while Kerala are unbeaten in their two games so far having won one and drawn the other.

It was a late goal by midfielder Noussair El Maimouni that handed Delhi Dynamos their first defeat of the season, but there are still numerous positives to take forward for the capital-based side who controlled the proceedings for most part of the game despite conceding an early goal.

The side has scored two goals so far and both have come via defenders as Rana Gharami and Pritam Kotal have been on target for Josep Gombau’s men and what will be even more encouraging for the Spanish manager is that Gharami also notched up an assist to his name in the last game.

Injuries forced Delhi Dynamos to rest three of its key players against ATK but assistant coach Mridul Banerjee believes that side has to cope with injuries and cannot use that as an excuse.

“Injuries happen in football and you can’t change that. We have to be prepared with what we have and give our best. We played well against ATK and the side has a high morale heading into this game.”

Delhi Dynamos have twice conceded goals in the dying minutes of the game, which has altered the result, but Banerjee believes that with time the side will improve defensively.

“A lot of players in that backline are new and they will take time to adjust. We were unlucky to not win both our previous games, but we are working on this problem and hopefully we can rectify this heading into our next match.”

The game against ATK saw Spanish defender Marti Crespi Pascual make his debut for the club and the 31-year old could have also had a goal to his name if not for a stunning save by the ATK custodian.

Crespi though believes that the side has been playing good football and it’s only a matter of time that the results start to show.

“We are excited. We could not win the last two games, but we want to win this one and the team is working really hard for this game. We know it will be a tough encounter, but we are focused and want to come back with three points.”
