ISL champions ATK sign Finland striker Njazi Kuqi!

Defending Indian Super League champions ATK have announced the signing of Finnish striker of Kosovar Albanian origin Njazi Kuqi ahead of ISL – Season 4.

34 year old Njazi Kuqi was born in Vucitrn in former Yugoslavia. He family left Yugoslavia for Finland at a young age. He started his football at FinnPa, before playing for MP and Kapa-51 at youth level. Kuqi made his senior debut at Finnish league side FC Lahti.

His good performances there enabled him to sign for Birmingham City FC, but he was send on loan to FC Blackpool and Peterborough United. He then signed for FC Groningen but left the club after a few weeks.

Kuqi then signed for German side Carl Zeiss Jena, but mainly played for their second team. He then got a transfer to TuS Koblenz.

Thereafter he played for FC Stevenage (England), Dundee FC (Scotland), TPS Turku (Finland), Panionios Athens (Greece), Atromitos (Greece), Pro Vercelli (Italy), Olympiacos Volou (Greece), SG Sonnenhof Großaspach (Germany), PK-35 Vantaa (Finland), and Inter Turku (Finland).

Njazi Kuqi has made 12 international appearances for Finland scoring five goals.

ATK principal owner Sanjiv Goenka stated in a press release, “We are glad to have Kuqi on board. He is a potential striker and I am hopeful that he will score maximum goals in this season for the team. We wish him all the very best.”

“I am happy to be associated with a champion team like ATK. My learning graph will only rise with this league. I just hope to give my best,” Kuqi was quoted in the release.
