ISL top scorer Ferran Corominas extends contract with FC Goa by another season!

Indian Super League franchise FC Goa have announced that the ISL top scorer, Ferran ‘Coro’ Corominas has extended his stay with the club and will be a Gaur for another season until summer 2020.

The 36 year old Coro started out at Espanyol in the ‘B’ Team before being promoted to the first team in the summer of 2003. After saving the club from relegation with a last minute goal in the 2005/06 season, Coro went on to win the Copa Del Rey and was also instrumental in the club’s run to the UEFA Cup final in the 2006/07 season where they finished runners-up to Juande Ramos’ FC Sevilla.

Coro then moved to Elche via FC Girona where he once again was a vital cog in the team and donned the captain’s armband on various occasions where he helped the club maintain its status in LaLiga over several seasons.

Coro over the last two seasons has been the highest scoring striker of the ISL, scoring 18 goals in ISL-4 and then 16 goals in ISL-5.

Corominas told FC Goa, “It is true that I have had offers from a number of teams, but the most important thing is to be happy and in Goa, my family and I are happy.”

“The goal for the coming season is clear. After a wonderful campaign last time around, the only thing that remains to be achieved is to be the champions of ISL.”

“I do not have any personal goal. Winning a title as a team is the best there is and that’s the thing that will drive me.”

FC Goa president Akshay Tandon was elated after retaining the services of the player. “What can I say about Coro that you are not already aware of? He is simply the best.”

“In my opinion, he is the best forward ever to step foot on Indian soil, period. Getting him back was a big priority for us. Now our team is complete, and I just can’t wait for the season to begin,” Akshay Tandon added.
