Jamshedpur FC back to winning ways after international break against FC Goa!

Jamshedpur FC scored a 1-0 upset win over FC Goa at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium to break their unbeaten streak in this season’s Indian Super League.

The match started with Jamshedpur FC being the aggressive team and pressing high on the pitch. Tiri played a lovely aerial ball from around his own box to find Sergio Castel on the right at the other end. He tried to lay it up to Noe Acosta but Carlos Pena put it out of danger. Soon after, FC Goa put in a lovely counter-attacking move when Edu Bedia played a through ball on the right to find Jackichand Singh who took a touch and then had a low-drilled shot only for it to be saved by Subrata. Jitendra Singh with his first start for Jamshedpur FC was in the books early on for a challenge on Edu Bedia. Finally, Jamshedpur FC were rewarded for their attacking play as Farukh Choudhary got the ball on the right flank and played an aerial ball around the near post. Sergio Castel took a brilliant first touch to pull it behind and away from Mourtada and found the back of the net from the centre of the box. There was stunned silence at the Fortada.

FC Goa reacted well to being behind with a barrage of attacks down the flank. Jackichand was the conjurer of majority of their attacking plays. FC Goa came pretty close to scoring when Brandon Fernandes’ through ball found Jackichand Singh on the right. He got away from the defender and played a half-shot-half-cross, but no one was there at the far post and his effort was not on target. Subrata Paul was at it again as he kept Jamshedpur FC’s lead intact by just some margin.

Jackichand Singh’s cross was headed by Edu Bedia and was on target at the bottom right corner but Subrata somehow managed to get down and kept it out just on the line. He looked absolutely unbeatable tonight as he dived and got a fingertip on Edu Bedia’s header from a corner just around the halfway mark. The score ended on 0-1 at half time.

The second half started with Farukh Choudhary being substituted with Sumeet Passi as Jamshedpur FC looked to hold on to their lead. FC Goa started on an attacking with Jackichand Singh once again putting in a dangerous cross only for it to be cleared away by Robin Gurung. Tiri was booked soon after for a rash challenge on Edu Bedia around the halfway line. FC Goa were settling in well in the second half and it was Jackichand Singh again who was through down the flank with him attempting a rather ambitious shot which went off target. Jamshedpur FC made another substitution with Mobashir coming on for C.K. Vineeth.

Just when FC Goa seemed to be in total control of the game, Ahmed Jahouh, who was already booked in the first half, put in a rash challenge on Noe Acosta to receive a second yellow and eventually be sent off at the 71st minute. With FC Goa reduced to 10 men, it was an uphill task finding an equaliser against a Jamshedpur FC side, who were looking solid in defence. Jamshedpur FC made their final substitution around the 87th minute mark with Joyner Lourenco coming in for Robin. With 6 minutes added on FC Goa were desperately searching for an equaliser but Jamshedpur FC saw the match played out rather comfortably and registered their first away win of the season.
