Jamshedpur FC’s Carlos Calvo suspended by AIFF for racism!

In a first in Indian football, Indian Super League franchise Jamshedpur FC midfielder Carlos Calvo has been suspended by the AIFF Disciplinary Committee for three matches and fined INR 300,000 (3 lakhs) for racism.

In an ISL-5 match between Jamshedpur FC and Delhi Dynamos, Carlos Calvo racially abused Delhi Dynamos defender Gianni Zuiverloon in Jamshedpur on December 12, 2018 in the players tunnel after an elbow by Zuiverloon on Calvo during the game.

But in the end even such an infringement doesn’t allow a racist comment to be made.

Carlos Calvo’s club Jamshedpur FC came out with following statement:

Jamshedpur Football Club would like to state that it does not subscribe to any kind of behavior which hints to intimidate, offend, insult, humiliate or discriminate against any person on the ground of their religion, race, colour, national or ethnic origin. The club stands with the decision of the All India Football Federation.
