Kerala Blasters sign former Manchester United defender Wes Brown for ISL-4!

Indian Super League franchise Kerala Blasters today announced the signing of former Manchester United defender Wes Brown ahead of the ISL – Season 4.

37 year old Manchester-born Wesley Michael Brown was taken into the Manchester United Academy at the age of 12 and thereafter went through the club academy system until getting into the first team in May 1998. In 1999 he as a youngster was part of the team which won the historic treble and he would go onto play for United until 2011.

He left his home club in the summer of 2011 to sign for Sunderland AFC and played for them for five seasons, but injuries were taking a toal on him and his playing time. In 2016 his contract was not renewed and after an injury enforced break, he joined Championship side Blackburn Rovers but only made five appearances over the season, while he also started his coaching career as part of the Blackburn Rovers Under-23s and Academy coaching set-up.

At international level, Wes Brown played for the England Under-21s before playing a total of 23 matches for the Three Lions.

He now joins his former coach Rene Meulensteen at the Blasters and as per his tweets, he is looking forward to the season in India!
