Minerva Academy staff donate blood to fight shortage amidst Covid-19 pandemic!

In continuation of its endeavour and unwavering commitment to serve the community especially during the difficult time of this pandemic, Minerva Academy and its staff donated blood to the Rotary and blood bank society in Sector 37, Chandigarh.

On August 29, 2020, on the occasion of Minerva Academy Foundation Day, 33 Minerva Academy staff led by the owner Ranjit Bajaj voluntarily donated blood which was the second time since the lockdown started. The camp was organized because of the heavy demand for blood due to the pandemic.

The COVID-19 has its impact on public health, social welfare, and economy, such pandemics cause enormous collateral damage to health systems; adverse health effects due to blood-shortage being a crucial one also blood banks and hospitals face various challenges have been hampering voluntary blood donation in this period like fear of contracting Coronavirus and the lockdown restrictions. To tackle the current situation a total of 33 staff members of Minerva Academy donated blood keeping exercising social distancing and other essential hygiene practices.

“It’s a matter of pride and immense contentment to contribute towards our society through the noble endeavour of donating blood. The blood shortage is one of the leading causes of millions of deaths in cases of road accidents, major surgeries, complicated pregnancies, disorder cases like sickle cell anemia, thalassemia, and hemophilia. Even though we the members of Minerva Academy donate blood twice a year, we have made a pact with ourselves that we will be Frontline Warriors especially during this pandemic and will try to live up to our name Warriors,” said the delighted owner of Minerva Academy Ranjit Bajaj.

He also thanked all the employees and Rotary and blood bank society officials who have become part of this earnest deed.

Dr. Manish Bali, In-charge, Sector-37 Blood Bank, congratulated the effort made by Minerva and commented, “it’s a great initiative by Minerva and Mr. Bajaj and this means so much to the patients urgently needing blood during these days of heavy blood shortage caused by the fear of the pandemic. Bless you all for your cooperation and support!”
