Minerva Punjab FC score four past Kehar Sporting Club!

I-League champions Minerva Punjab FC in the Punjab State League bagged all three points away from home as they defeated home team Kehar Sporting Club at the DAV College Grounds, Jalandhar.

The Mohali-based team led by former Sydney Olympic FC hitman Yu Kuboki of Japan lined-up with regular Arshdeep Singh under the woodwork along with defenders Akashdeep, Sourabh, Arshpreet and Irshad in the back-line. Yu Kuboki led the midfield along with Randeep with Souvik Das and Akash Sangwan on either sides. C.S. Sabeeth and Brazilian Robert de Souza were deployed upfront.

The Warriors kicked off the game and dominated the first few minutes that saw Yu Kuboki trigger a brilliant counter in the 6th minute from the heart of the field which local lad Akash Sangwan slotted home smashing it into the far corner of the frame. Minervans came close to scoring another in the 15th minute of the game when Souvik Das shot from the set-piece hit the woodwork.

Yet again in the 23rd minute, skipper Yu Kuboki was in the centre of another attack when he slided one for Brazilian teammate Robert de Souza whose powerful shot just missed the target by inches, however the Brazilian made no mistake in his next chance in the 30th minute as he recieved a beautifull drilled ball from Arashpreet, slotting it past the opponents custodian to make it 2-0.

Home team, Kehar Sporting Club had their best chance in the game in the dying minutes of the first half when their strikers brilliant header hit the post.

Minerva Punjab FC coach Sachin made two changes during the break that saw Akash Sangwan being replaced by Dilliram and Arshpreet making his way for Akhil, the second half was no different for the visiting Minervans as they kept the pressure maintained on their opponents as Japanese Yu Kuboki proved too hot to handle for the back four.

Yu Kuboki got on the scoresheet in the 74th minute after finishing off from Dilliram’s neat footwork. Kehar SC managed to push the Minervans as they regrouped well for the next move, but Minerva’s custodian Arshdeep made a brilliant fingertip save to keeps his clean sheet intact. However the last move of the game saw the visiting team wrap up all three points after Yu Kuboki’s brilliant one-touch with Robert for Dilliram making no mistake in hammering the final nail in the coffin.
