Minerva Punjab FC U-15 sail through to Nationals with a 3-0 win over Youth FC!

Minerva Punjab FC U-15s, unbeaten in the group, defeated Youth FC with a margin of 3-0 to remain top of the group with 15 points from five matches in the Punjab Zone of Hero Junior league (U-15 Youth League) and qualified directly for the Nationals as group leaders.

Minerva Punjab FC travelled to Rurka Kalan to play their fifth match against Youth FC in the Hero Junior League. Minerva Punjab FC were without their 4-star players who are in National Team duty with India and gave rest to some of the regulars due to injuries.

Minerva Punjab FC started the proceedings and started attacking from the 1st minute with captain Tangva Ragui s shot saved by the opposition goalkeeper. From here on, Minerva Punjab FC started dominating the match and Sunny’s shot just went wide in the 9th minute.

Both teams tried hard to break the deadlock but failed to score. It was end to end stuff in the first half from both the teams with Minerva bossing the possession. A beautiful one two between Sunny and Nadeem in the 40th minute almost led to a goal for Minerva Punjab FC but the opposition goalkeeper was alert to save the shot from Nadeem. The first half ended goalless at 0-0.

Youth FC kicked off the second half but Minerva Punjab FC kept pressing and started attack from the very start of the half. Minerva Punjab FC substituted Lhunminthang with Nadeem in 54th minute and a
one two in the opposition half between him and Kamesh helped Samson to open the scoring for Minerva Punjab FC in 65th minute.

After just three minutes of first goal Samson scored another one, this time Lhunminthang was directly involved in this particular goal as he assisted it from an open play inside the opposition penalty area to take the score to 2-0.

A reckless challenge from the opposition number 11 on Tania lead to a second yellow card and Youth FC were down to 10 men in the 82nd minute. The resulting free kick led to a stunning goal from Sadananda to take the score to 3-0 Paogoumang’s could have added fourth but his long range effort hit the top of the crossbar in 88th minute. Minerva Punjab FC finished the match with a comfortable 3-0 scoreline at full time.

Minerva Punjab FC sit on the top of the Punjab Zone table having secured the maximum 15 points available in the five matches played so far. Minerva Punjab FC have now scored 21 goals without conceding a single one in the group so far.

In the other tie, RoundGlass Sports club drew goalless with United Punjab Football Academy. This means Minerva Punjab FC now have an unassailable lead of five points and thus have directly qualified for the National Round of the U-15 Youth League with one match still to play in Punjab Zone.
