Mizoram Premier League-6: Chanmari FC come out victors against 9-man Dinthar FC!

Champions Chanmari FC began their Mizoram Premier League – Season 6 campaign with a win over Dinthar FC at the Lammual Stadium in Aizawl as they look for consecutive titles this season.

It was the champions who had the first clear chance at goal when Rochhingpuia struck a freekick just wide of Dinthar FC’s goal.

A slow start came to life as the minutes went on and Lalnunsanga came close for Dinthar FC while Nigerian forward Jackson Victor Ogheneochuku also forced a save from Chanmari FC’s custodian.

Both teams made changes after the break, looking to pose a more attacking threat. And Chanmari FC’s decision to bring Vanlalbiaa on proved to be more effective that DFC’s introduction of John Lalthafela.

Dinthar FC struck the post from a counterattack but the match would tilt in favour of Chanmari FC soon after when Jackson Victor Ogheneochuku and Zothanzuala were sent off as a result of a clash of players between the two teams.

Then Chanmari FC took advantage of their superiority in numbers and Jacob Vanlalhlimpuia gave his side the lead on the 65th minute. Chanmari FC were close to adding a second in the latter stages and a late red card to goalscorer Jacob Vanlalhlimpuia ensured there was drama till the final whistle.

Defender Joseph Lalnunpuia of Chanmari FC was named man of the match for his efforts.
