Mizoram Premier League: Bethlehem Vengthlang FC upset champions Aizawl FC!

mpl-bethlehem-vengthlang-fc-aizawl-fcRound 4 of the Mizoram Premier League opened with a thrilling encounter between defending champions Aizawl FC and early season title contenders Bethlehem Vengthlang FC with the champions succumbing to successive one-nil defeat.

Bethlehem Vengthlang FC started the more brightly with Dingngheta and P.C. Zosanga combining well only for Zosanga to put his effort wide. Aizawl FC, though seeing more of the ball, cannot put it to good use, finding it hard to conjure up clear cut chances in the first half. The goalless first half saw Bethlehem Vengthlang FC clearly the better side.

The second half saw a much improved Aizawl FC with captain Rohminga orchestrating play with typical precision. But it was not to be as Lalrammuanpuia found himself on the end of a Dingngheta cross and slotting seamlessly into T.Moia’s goal.

Aizawl FC tried to hit back time and again only to be thwarted in the attacking third as BVT FC held firm for three points.

Goal scorer Lalrammuanpuia was given the Man of the Match Award for his hardworking shift.

BVT FC leads the table with 10 points from four matches, while struggling Aizawl FC are only on three points from three matches.
