Mizoram Premier League: Chanmari FC and Chhinga Veng FC battle to a draw!

mpl-chhinga-veng-fcMizoram Premier League leaders Chanmari FC managed to hold newcomers Chhinga Veng FC in a fiery encounter that saw both sides finish the game with 10 men in a drama filled second half.

A bright start saw both teams play lively football with the newcomers Chhinga Veng FC, showing intent on grabbing much needed three points. Centerback Emmanuel Chigozie’s battle with Chanmari FC’s new signing Dodoz provided great entertainment as well.

Both teams managed to build up decent plays without creating clear cut chances. The newcomers who were looking sharp against the former champion’s backline eventually took the lead on the 41st minute. Captain Joseph’s freekict founded striker Dawngtea, and the dimunitive hitman found the net with an easy strike.

Chanmari FC then threatened in the second half through a combination of Fela Zote and Ramfangzauva only for the latter to be tharted by goalkeeper Lalhmaa. Chhinga Veng looked to hit back through Dinlina only to find his effort too high on goal.

Chanmari FC then took advantage of a lack of concentration from CVFC’s backline and Ramfangzauva took advantage and gave his side an equaliser on the 55th minute.
The second half saw tempers flare as after both teams find themselves in a tussle after a Chanmari leftback Zautea kicked a bottle thrown in by Chhinga Veng FC’s fans toward their opponents bench.

And another incident followed when Chanmari FC’s Rosanga tawh a swing at Chhinga Veng FC’s winger MK-a following a tussle. Both Rosanga and MK-a were sent off as a result.

A fiery game came to an end with both teams sharing points. The result sees Chanmari FC in second place with 20 points, and Chhinga Veng FC languishing in 7th place with 11 points.

Chhinga Veng FC’ Emmanuel Chigozie was named Man of the Match.
