The second fixture of matchday 8 saw former champions Chanmari FC battle with Zo United FC on a beautiful fall night. The former champions grabbing three points with another brilliant showing from Fela Zote – Chanmari leads the table with 17 points after eight matches.
Chanmari FC got off to a bright start with live wire attacker Fela Zote in amongst the action right away. New signing MS-a also came close early on for Zo United as well.
Chanmari FC spurned further chances through Rammawia and Notea in the first half. Their opponents were guilty of profligacy as well with Jesse wasting a glorious opportunity to give his side the lead.
The second half saw Chanmari FC bring on Muanzova and it paid dividends in their attack. Fela Zote broke through on the counter and was brought down in the box. Malsawmfela duly converting the resulting spot kick.
Desperate to find an equaliser, Zo United FC pressed on but looked vulnerable on the counter. And Chanmari FC duly hit when they find a break with winger Vanlalbiaa setting up Fela Zote for a brilliant finish.
Zo United pulled one back late in the game when substitute Dinliana Varte set up Isak Vanlalpeka for a simple finish.
Chanmari FC midfielder Lalrinchhana was awarded Man of the Match for his industrious performance.
