Mizoram Premier League: Chhinga Veng FC thwarted by Ramhlun North FC!

mpl-chhinga-veng-fc-ramhlun-north-fcMPL newcomers Chhinga Veng FC set out looking for their first consecutive win of the Mizoram Premier League season facing Ramhlun North FC and they came close, only to be denied by a debatable penalty from Ramhlun North FC’s captain.

Both newly promoted sides, eager to book their place in the semifinals started the match with vigour in an entertaining encounter. Chhinga Veng FC got the better of proceedings early on with striker Dawngtea and winger V.L. Lawma looking threatening. Ramhlun North FC, on the other hand, were lucky not to see their striker Francis Oneyama sent off for dissent.

Chhinga Veng FC then took the lead on the 41st minute when Dawngtea pounced on a loose ball inside the box, slotting it past goalkeeper Liansangpuia. Chhinga Veng FC will also feel aggrieved by the referee’s decision not to award a penalty when Muanawma brought down fullback Dinliana inside the box.

The second half saw an improved Ramhlun North FC threaten their opponents early on from a Thlamuana strike that went wide and from a ball into the box that needed a goalline clearance.

Chhinga Veng also looked to extend their lead as well, but it was Ramhlun North FC that eventually got an equaliser. Chhinga Veng’s centerback Emma was penalised for a foul on Francis Onyema inside the box. Ramhlun North FC’s captain Chhaia then converted the spot-kick to ensure a point for his side.

Chhinga Veng FC’s Emmanuel Chigozie was named the Man of the Match for his dominating performance at the back.
