Aizawl FC turned on the style today registering their first win of MPL6 with a 6-1 victory over Mizoram Police FC as mercurial attacker Rochharzela scored a hattrick.

Both teams have not yet registered wins till today and were sitting at the bottom end of the table at the start of the match. Mizoram Police were bottom with just a point from four matches while Aizawl FC were just above them with three from the same amount of games.

And it was Aizawl FC who started more brightly in the exchanges early on. They quickly got their goal on the 9th minute when talented Rochharzela struck after some brilliant work from David Lalrinmuana and Jonathan Lalrawngbawla.

Aizawl FC kept on pushing with Rochharzela in the thick of things, missing a glorius chance before Jonathan failed to convert his brilliant cross.

Mizoram Police had a chance to pull level but Biaktea dragged his shot wide while Valpuia and Sangber could not capitalise on their openings.

The I-League champions then scored two in two minutes as Rochharzela grabbed his second of the match right after Hmingthanmawia’s strike. And they could have more had it not been for some wayward finishing.

Rochharzela then grabbed his hattrick in the 63rd minute when he latched on to a loose ball after Mizoram Police goalkeeper Tanpuia failed to calmly collect the ball in his box.

Mizoram Police took advantage when Aizawl FC finally relaxed a bit and tested Avilash Paul twice before finally grabbing a goal. Fakawma’s cross was put in the back of his own net by Aizawl FC defender Kareem in the 78th minute.

But Aizawl FC were not yet done late on with S. Malsawmtluanga missing a one-on-one before substitute Lalmuankima’s delivery was headed in by Alfred Jaryan in the 80th minute.
