Mohammedan Sporting to face Sikkim Aakraman FC in Governor’s Gold Cup semifinals!

mohammedan-sporting-practiceThe 2016/17 Calcutta Football League – Premier Division – A runners-up Mohammedan Sporting Club would cross swords with the Sikkimese S-League champions Sikkim Akraman FC to secure a spot in the 36th All India Governor’s Gold Cup final.

Mohammedan Sporting, who started their campaign in the competition from quarterfinal round, beat Siliguri Kanchenjunga FC 3-0 to made it to the last four. Akraman FC, on the other hand, started from the pre-quarterfinals and they beat two Kolkata teams in Calcutta Customs and United SC 4-0 and 2-0 respectively on their way to the semifinals.

“I am expecting a tough game against Akraman FC. They are good side and I have full respect for them but boys are motivated to do well and I am hopeful for positive result,” said coach Zaheer Abbas Hamza on the eve of the clash.

Heading into the game, Mohammedan Sporting squad has been strengthened with inclusion of senior striker Dipendu Biswas and midfielder Sonam Bhutia. Meanwhile, Senior Team Manager Belal Ahmed Khan has also arrived at Gangtok this evening.

The match at Gangtok’s Paljor Stadium kicks off at 2pm on Tuesday.
