Mohun Bagan announce the signing of Dhanachandra Singh & Ashutosh Mehta!

Former I-League champions and Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan AC today announced the signing of defenders Dhanachandra Singh and Ashutosh Mehta ahead of the 2019/20 season.

The first is former Mariner Dhanachandra Singh, who had won the I-League and Federation Cup in his first stint with the club.

Dhanachandra is primarily left-footed and can play both as a left back and a centre back and has represented other reputed clubs such as Churchill Brothers SC, Mumbai FC and Prayag United SC in the I-League besides Chennaiyin FC and Jamshedpur FC in the ISL. Dhana has also represented the national team in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The second signing is 27 year old Mumbai-born Ashutosh Mehta, a youth product for former I-League side Mumbai FC, where he also had his senior debut in 2011. He would spend five seasons with the club, the last few months on loan from Indian Super League side Mumbai City FC after a loan spell with FC Pune City for ISL-1.

In 2017, Ashutosh left Mumbai for the first-time to move to the Northeast to join Aizawl FC and he had a very successful season which ended by sensationally lifting the 2016/17 I-League.

Thereafter Ashutosh moved to ATK for ISL-4 before moving back to Maharashtra to join FC Pune City for a second time in ISL-5. Now he returns to the I-League.

Mohun Bagan also announced the signing of Ranjan Chowdhury as assistant coach of new head coach Kibu Vicuna. Having worked with East Bengal for long and also having coached Tollygunge Agragami, the former Mohun Bagan player, who was part of the first Mohun bagan squad in 1997/98 to lift the National Football League title, brings a lot of experience to the club.
