A late own goal by Chawnpui FC goalkeeper Thomas Lalthlamuana undid all their hardwork as they battled to a 1-1 draw against Aizawl FC in round 8 of the Mizoram Premier League.
Vanrammawia’s magnificent strike before half-time almost proved to be enough as Aizawl FC could not find an equaliser in the second half despite dominating possession.
Aizawl FC had the better chances in both halves as they were denied multiple times by the brilliance of Chawnpui FC’s custodian Thomas. The goalkeeper pulled out stops against Isak Vanlalruatfela and F. Lalremsanga in the first period.
He later denied Lalkhawpuimawia and saved Paul Ramfangzauva’s brilliant freekick in the second half.
But his heroics were undone in the end when he mishandled Lalrinchhana’s corner which ended in the back of his net for Aizawl FC’s leveller.
Chawnpui FC had depended on swift counterattacks during the match as they were happy to let their opponents enjoy possession. K. Roluahpuia and Vanrammawia proved to be threats from such counterattacks but were ultimately let down by their finishing.
