Mumbai City FC announce signing of midfielder Rafael Bastos of Brazil!

Indian Super League franchise Mumbai City FC today announced the signing of Brazilian attacking midfielder Rafael Bastos for the 2018/19 season.

33 year old Rio de Janeiro-born Rafael Bastos started his youth career locally before signing for EC Bahia where he made his senior debut in the 2006/07 season.

He then became a global journeyman as he left to join Cruzeiro, but without playing a game for them was send on loan to Portuguese side Belenenses Lisboa before joining Nacional Funchal.

Rafael Bastos returned to Brazil to sign for EC Vitória in 2009 before signing for J-League side Consadole Sapporo. He then left to return to Portugal to sign for Sporting Braga before joining ambitious Romanian side CFR Cluj, where Rafael Bastos had his most successful time.

Thereafter he joined Saudi Arabia Premier League side Al Nassr FC, then Levski Sofia in Bulgaria and Kuwait SC before returning to Brazil to play for Figueirense FC, América Mineiro and Chapecoense.

In 2016, Rafael Bastos returned to Asia to play for Hatta Club in UAE Arabian Gulf League before moving to Thailand’s Buriram United FC in 2017. In 2018, Bastos returned to Brazil to play for Clube de Regataas Brasil.

Now he comes to India, where Mumbai City FC will hope he can have a positive impact.
