Mumbai City FC confirm signing Serbia defender Marko Klisura!

Indian Super League franchise Mumbai City FC have completed the signing of Serbian defender Marko Klisura on a one-year deal. Klisura becomes the Islanders’ second foreign recruit of the summer and the third at the club, joining Lucian Goian and new signing Matias Mirabaje.

Marko Klisura graduated from the ranks of Serbian club FK Vojvodina, and despite being just 25-years old, he is an experienced campaigner in the Serbian SuperLiga, featuring for FK Spartak Subotica and OFK Backa Palanka amongst other clubs. Klisura will join Mumbai City FC following his latest stint with Uzbek side FK Buxoro, finishing sixth in the Uzbekistan Super League.

Adding to his domestic experience, Klisura earned his international debut, coming off the bench for Serbia in January 2017 in a friendly against the USA.

Delighted on having got his man, head coach Jorge Costa says Klisura’s ‘versatility’ can make him one of the key players in the Islanders’ squad. “I’m extremely happy to welcome Marko to Mumbai City FC. He’s a strong character on the pitch and can play a number of roles, depending on the situations. And with the experience Marko brings in, I’m confident he can impact our season in a positive way,” said Costa.

“This a new, exciting challenge for me in my career. I’ve heard a lot about the club, the Indian Super League and the city of Mumbai as well. A few Serbians have come to this league before and have left their mark. I cannot wait to get on with the training and try and do the same,” said Klisura after putting pen to paper.
