Mumbai City FC ready for their opener against NorthEast United FC!

With the onset of a new era at the club, Mumbai City FC kick off their 2020-21 Indian Super League campaign tomorrow against NorthEast United FC at the Tilak Maidan.

With new head coach Sergio Lobera at the helm along with a revamped squad, Mumbai City FC went through a short pre-season in Goa and remained unbeaten in the three games. A new-look Islanders’ outfit – with 19 new additions to the roster – will take the pitch in search of three points against Gerard Nus’ visitors, who begins his first season in charge of NorthEast United FC as well.

The Highlanders too flaunt a new-look side with six new foreigners and a host of new domestic talent and have seen a solid pre-season as well. Lobera is eyeing a winning start tomorrow, but maintains that it will be a ‘difficult game’.

In the hunt for a maiden ISL title, Mumbai City FC will enter into a new season with sights firmly set on the three points and a strong start to this unique edition of the league.

Sourav Das is suspended from tomorrow’s action after the midfielder picked up a red card against Chennaiyin FC in the last game of the 2019/20 season.

Mumbai City FC head coach Sergio Lobera said, “In these circumstances, it’s not about the best team but about the best group. We can either complain or adapt. and solve our problems like a family. It’s not easy to live like this, but we have everything we need to do our jobs well.”

Mumbai City FC goalkeeper Amrinder Singh said, “As a professional, you have to adjust. But the club took good care of us in the months during the off-season, in our quarantine and since we’ve arrived in Goa.”

The game will kick off at 7.30pm IST and will be broadcast on the Star Sports Network, Hotstar and Jio TV for all viewers in India.
