Mumbai City FC sign defender Keenan Almeida on loan from Hyderabad FC!

Mumbai City today announce the signing of Keenan Almeida on loan from Hyderabad FC. The 28-year old joins the Islanders’ squad until the end of the season, bolstering Jorge Costa’s defensive unit.

Almeida, an ISL winner in 2017-18, brings with him a great amount of experience. The Margao-born defender started his career with Goan side Salgaocar FC before going on to play for Sporting Clube de Goa. Almeida made his ISL bow with FC Goa, joining them in 2015. Over the next couple of seasons, he enjoyed loan stints with former side Salgaocar FC and Churchill Brothers.

Almeida went on to join and enjoy a successful season with Chennaiyin FC in the 2017-18 ISL campaign. Soon after, he switched allegiances to FC Pune City but suffered an injury early on which ruled him out of action for the entire season. Following FC Pune City’s disbanding, he moved to Hyderabad FC.

Almeida, who operates primarily as a right-back, can operate across the defence and will add solidity to the Islanders’ defence after Sarthak Golui’s season-ending injury. Almeida will wear the number 23 shirt for the Islanders.

Mumbai City FC continue their fight for a spot in the ISL 2019-20 playoffs against Jamshedpur FC on February 6 at the Mumbai Football Arena at 7.30pm.
