Indian Super League franchise Mumbai City FC have announced the signing of teenage defender Hmingthanmawia from former I-League champions Aizawl FC.
19 year old Aizawl-born Hmingthanmawia started playing football locally at an early age and then went through the Mizoram Football Association grassroots and youth development system before joining the Aizawl FC Under-18s.
In 2017, Hmingthanmawia made the transition to the Aizawl FC senior team and since then he has become a regular in the Mizoram Premier League and the I-League. Hmingthanmawia can play both as a centre back and a right back.
Now talented Hmingthanmawia makes the switch from I-League to ISL and he would face tougher competition for a starting eleven spot at Mumbai City FC, who have signed him on a two year contract
The versatile Hmingthanmawia, fondly known as ‘Valpuia’ joins us on a 2 year contract and will be a solid addition to our backline! ??#ApunKaTeam #WelcomeValpuia #TheIslanders pic.twitter.com/qJBn6QJtCQ
