Mumbai City FC want to continue their good run against Chennaiyin FC!

Over the last six weeks, Jorge Costa has seen his Mumbai City FC side metamorphose into a stronger, a more spirited and much more compact unit and Monday’s performance away to Delhi Dynamos showcased what the Islanders are all about.

After ing a comeback win over the side from New Delhi, Mumbai City FC return to the Mumbai Football Arena tomorrow for the penultimate home game of the calendar year against the defending champions Chennaiyin FC at 7.30pm.

After last season’s title-winning campaign, Chennaiyin FC have had their misfortunes on the pitch this time around. According to the boss Jorge Costa, tomorrow’s visitors “have a highly experienced coach and a whole lot of individual talent’ in their side and much like our previous opposition, ‘their position on the table is not an accurate reflection of their abilities.”

For the Islanders, tomorrow’s encounter comes just three days after the 4-2 win against the Dynamos and will be the second of the three games scheduled in this week. With one eye on maintaining the momentum and one eye on Sunday’s big clash at the Kanteerava, three points tomorrow would certainly do well for Jorge Costa’s boys and the Islanders’ playoff hopes.

A solitary goal from Modou Sougou was enough to bring back the three points home from the away game in Chennai, but with their sights set on staying alive in the race for the playoff spot, John Gregory’s side will come out all guns blazing at the Arena.

Jorge Costa said, “Chennaiyin FC have got one of the best squads in the league with a very good coach. They just haven’t been able to produce the results.”

Midfielder Milan Singh said, “The recent form is a result of the hours the entire team is putting in the hours in training. We are a unit, a family and we want to play and fight like one.”
