Narrow win for Candolim SC, Varca SC trounce Nuvem SC!

Pundalik Naik scored an 80th minute match-winner for Candolim Sports Club as they registered a nervy 1-0 win over Sinquerim Sports Club in the Goa Second Division League match played at Poriat ground.

The first half witnessed hardly any actions as both the teams failed to get on the score sheet. Sinquerim’s Rupesh Naik was cautioned for tripping an opponents in the first session. That was the only action in the first 45 minutes.

In the second half, both teams came with promising moves but just couldn’t get the final act done. Finally with 10 minutes left on the clock Pundalik Naik came with a fine shot from the box which had no answer from the rival keeper, which then proved to be the ultimate match deciding goal. Candolim’s Llyod Rebelo went into the referee’s books for interrupting a promising move by the Sinquerim strikers in the dying minutes of the game.

Meanwhile at Dramapur ground, Varca Sports Club scored a resounding 6-2 win over Nuvem Sports Club.

Reeve D’Costa scored a fine hat-trick for Varca netting two in the first half and then completing his treble in the second session. Robinson Colaco, Aaron Rodrigues and Maxson Fernandes were the other goal scorers for the winning team.

Nuvem also managed to score two goals through Clyson Colaco and Richard Colaco.
