New ‘City Football Group’ China CEO to speak at Soccerex!

Soccerex have confirmed that City Football Group (CFG) China’s new CEO, Scott Munn, will be providing extensive insight into the organization’s in-market strategy as part of the conference at Soccerex China at Mission Hills Haikou in Hainan on May 23-24.

The announcement comes shortly after the confirmation of CFG’s joint purchase of third-tier Chinese club Sichuan Jiuniu, adding to their global portfolio which includes current champions Premier League champions, Manchester City FC along with teams in the United States, Australia, Japan, Spain and Uruguay.

Scott will be using Soccerex China 2019 – the second edition of the biggest international football business convention in China – to outline CFG’s plans for Sichuan Jiuniu and will also explain how they will complement their other activities in-market which include the establishment of regional offices, an eSports team and a first team tour this summer.

The session with CFG China’s new CEO will be will be part in a series of International Club Cases Studies at Soccerex China which will also feature LaLiga champions FC Barcelona and Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.

Scott Munn has over two decades of experience as a key administrator across Australia’s leading sporting codes and organisations. Commencing his career with the Sydney Local Organising Committee for the 2000 Olympic Games, Scott transitioned to a position within the commercial operations of the National Rugby League (NRL), before joining Australia’s established code, the Australia Football League (AFL). While with the AFL, Scott contributed to the expansion of a second team into the competition in Queensland, the Gold Coast Suns.

Scott was installed as Melbourne City FC Chief Executive Officer in the Club’s inaugural year in 2010, and in nine years with the club he drove substantial growth across the sporting and commercial arms of the organisation, with ever improving results of the field, including the men’s first ever silverware in 2016 and back-to-back Championships for the women’s team. In 2019, he was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of City Football Group China, and now oversees all CFG’s operations in China.
