NorthEast United FC stun ISL champions Chennaiyin FC in seven goal thriller!

Defending Indian Super League champions Chennaiyin FC suffered a stunning 3-4 home loss to NorthEast United FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Thursday night.

Chennaiyin FC went ahead in the 5th minute through a Rowllin Borges onw goal before Thoi Singh made it two after only 15 minutes and it seemed the champions were cruising.

But NorthEast United FC captain Bartholomew Ogbeche reduced the deficit in the 29th minute, but Thoi Singh made it 3-1 only three minutes later before a double strike by Bartholomew Ogbeche in the 37th and 39th minutes saw him complete the first hattrick of ISL-5 and take a 3-3 draw into the break.

The winner for the Highlanders came in the 54th minute off Rowllin Borges, who scored this time into the right goal.

Chennaiyin FC had chances to equalise late in the game, but NorthEast United FC kept their slender lead in tact to score a memorable away win to have 7 points after three matches.

Chennaiyin FC after three opening losses in ISL-5 now travel to the capital to face Delhi Dynamos on October 23, while NorthEast United FC host Jamshedpur FC on October 25.
