Premier Futsal want to achieve a bigger & better Season 2!

The organisers of Premier Futsal held a press conference in the capital New Delhi to announce Premier Futsal – Season 2 which will be held later this year.

Present were former Portugal international and Premier Futsal president Luis Figo besides Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs, who played for Mumbai 5s in the first edition and Brazilian Futsal legend Falcao.

The Premier Futsal organisers are planning for a bigger and better season with the number of matches set to grow from 15 to 27 games, three instead of two venues (cities) and 14 instead of eight match days.

The feature of Premier Futsal this year is the LaunchPad initiative which provides amateur Indian players the opportunity to attend trials to get selected for the city based teams. LaunchPad has been created, developed and produced to scout five local players for each of the participating city-teams from a pool of over 2,000 participants. The talent hunt registration begins from March 10 and is open to applicants between 18 to 30 years of age.

According to the organisers of the league, the shortlisted players will undergo rigorous training at a three to five-day camp in their respective cities, where they will be evaluated for physical fitness, mental agility and technical attributes like flair, positioning, dribbling, passing and tackling before being selected to play in the Premier Futsal – Season 2.

While the AIFF continues to boycott Premier Futsal as stated in a release – AIFF states that Premier Futsal is not recognised by India’s governing body! – the Premier Futsal organisers have gotten the support of the Indian Sports Minister Vijay Goel, which he also showed in a tweet.

Luis Figo said, “My association with Premier Futsal has been a special one. The 2016 edition of the tournament brought back memories of enjoying the sport back in the streets of my hometown in Portugal.”
