Soccerex have announced that this year’s Soccerex Global Convention from September 4-6 in Manchester will close with a special panel to celebrate 25 years on the Premier League featuring David Dein, Bryan Robson and Kolo Touré.
The panel will combine discussion and video highlights to look back at some of the key moments in the league’s history; from Cantona’s kung fu kick to Agüero’s last minute winner to clinch the title for Manchester City the panel will reflect on the moments that have captured the hearts and imagination of fans in England and all around the world and made the league the phenomenal global success that it is.
David Dein is one of the founder members of the Premier League and in his former role as Vice Chairman of Arsenal FC, brought Arsène Wenger to the club and oversaw a period of huge success which included the Invincibles season of 2003/04.
Kolo Touré was one of the stalwarts of that Invincibles Arsenal FC side playing 36 of the 38 matches that season and making over 220 appearances during his eight years with the Gunners. The Ivorian went on to make a further 128 Premier League appearances for Manchester City (82 appearances) and Liverpool (28 appearances) and he helped City win their first League title in 44 years.
Bryan Robson played and managed in the Premier League. He was club captain of Manchester United when they won the title in the League’s inaugural year. He went on to manage Middlesbrough and West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League, taking Middlesbrough to both the League Cup (twice) and the FA Cup finals.
The Premier League at 25 tribute is part of a packed programme of top level football content at the Soccerex Global Convention which will include sessions looking at Johan Cruyff’s football legacy, club brand values, the transfer market and innovations in sports performance. The Convention will see 3,000 delegates from around the world gather in Manchester for three days of insight, networking and business.
