Premier League confirms initial fixtures for season restart!

The English Premier League today, June 5 confirmed the fixture schedule for the first three match rounds of the resumed 2019/20 season.

The League will restart on Wednesday, June 17 if all safety requirements are in place.

It was confirmed last week, the remaining 92 matches will be broadcast live in the UK by the Premier League’s existing broadcast partners as, due to COVID-19, all matches will take place behind closed doors.

BBC Radio 5 Live and talkSPORT will also provide live radio commentaries in the UK for all the remaining matches!

Aston Villa v Sheff Utd kicks things off

Sky Sports will broadcast live both opening fixtures in the UK, which were postponed due to the EFL Cup final, on June 17.

Aston Villa v Sheffield United will kick off at 18:00 BST and Manchester City v Arsenal at 20:15 BST, followed by a full match round beginning on Friday, June 19.

BT Sport will show the first-ever Saturday 15:00 Premier League match to be broadcast live in the UK with Brighton & Hove Albion taking on Arsenal on June 20.

The schedule will also see Premier League matches more widely available, with 33 of the remaining fixtures broadcast free-to-air via Sky Pick, the BBC and Amazon Prime Video, enabling more supporters in the UK to enjoy Premier League action from their homes.

BBC will broadcast its first live Premier League fixture when AFC Bournemouth host Crystal Palace on Saturday, June 20 at 19.45 BST.

Prime Video coverage will start with Crystal Palace v Burnley at 20:00 BST on Monday, June 29. Prime Video confirmed earlier this week that all four of their matches will be made available free of charge with fans not needing a Prime membership to view.

Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters said: “We are pleased to provide fans with further updates on the provisional restart of the Premier League season.”

“We know it won’t be the same without our loyal supporters in stadiums but, together with our broadcast partners, we are able to ensure fans can watch or listen to each match live from home.”

“It is important that as many people as possible can access our games so we are extremely happy that more than a third of our remaining fixtures will be televised free-to-air here in the UK.”

“I am delighted we are able to take another positive step towards the season returning in just under two weeks’ time.”
