As per a decision of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Congress on Wednesday, April 11; the 12th edition of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championships will be played from September 4 to 15, 2018 in Bangladesh after an earlier postponements.
The original date of December 2017 had been declined by India due to the conduct of its own domestic leagues – Indian Super League and I-League – and then it had agreed to the postponed dates of May 2018, but now the 12th SAFF Cup has been postponed again.
India are the most successful team of the biennial South Asian tournament and had won the last edition in December 2015/January 2016 at home in Thiruvananthapuram.
Further the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) is planning to also organise Under-15 Men’s Championship, Under-15 Women’s Championship, Under-18 Women’s Championship and Senior Women’s Championship later this year.
