SC East Bengal announce signing of India striker Jeje Lalpekhlua!

Indian Super League newcomers SC East Bengal announced on Sunday the signing of India striker Jeje Lalpekhlua ahead of the 2020/21 season.

29 year old Jeje Lalpekhlua was born in Hnahthial village in Mizoram. Jeje played youth football locally before joining the Peninsula Pune FC Academy, where he also made his senior debut. In the 2010/11 season, Jeje spend time on loan with the Pailan Arrows, where he impressed.

After spending five seasons with Pune FC, Jeje in 2013 joined Dempo SC and a year later moved on to Mohun Bagan AC, where he would lift the 2014/15 I-League title and return two more times on loan to the Mariners. From ISL season one to six, Jeje played for Chennaiyin FC winning the ISL-2 and ISL-4 titles, but last season he was out due to a serious injury.

At international level after playing for the India U-19s and U-23s, Jeje debuted for India in 2011 in the 2012 AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers. Jeje so far has made 56 appearances scoring 23 goals.

Jeje Lalpekhlua said, “Every footballer in India wants to play for SC East Bengal one day. It is such a big institution. I am thrilled to join SC East Bengal in its first year of taking part in the ISL. I cannot wait to don the Red and Gold colours and give my best every time I take the field.”
