Selected updates to the medical & organisational concept of the DFL & DFB!

DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga and DFB are making selected changes to the medical and organisational concept for the current special match operations in the Bundesliga, Bundesliga 2, 3.Liga and the Women’s Bundesliga. The changes are based in large part on the experiences from the match days completed after the restart but also reflect the changes to the general protection regulations for containing the coronavirus. The Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs has checked and signed off on the updates in consultation with the responsible employers’ liability insurance association in accordance with the SARS-CoV-2 health and safety standard. They take effect in the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 as from the upcoming 31st match day and apply until the end of the season for now, including for the finals in the DFB-Pokal.

The club personnel in the technical zone (players, trainers and training staff) as well as the delegation members of the clubs on the stands thus no longer have to wear face masks once they have taken their seat at a distance of 1.5 metres to the next person. The same applies for the fourth official on the refereeing team who moves between the “trainer benches” and is regularly tested for COVID-19 just like the players, trainers and training staff. The number of persons working in the stadium is being raised slightly. This includes doubling the number of journalists, from 13 to 26, who report from the stadium in addition to the rights holders.

It is absolutely clear that the health of all involved and of the entire population as well as the containment of the virus continue to have the highest priority for the DFL and DFB. The general hygiene and distancing measures established in the medical and organisational concept remain the foundation in this regard.
