Spain’s LaLiga takes central role at Soccerex Global Convention!

SoccerexWith LaLiga currently undergoing one of the biggest overhauls since its inception in 1929, they are now more determined than ever to establish themselves as Europe’s biggest league. LaLiga President, Javier Tebas, has previously stated his ambition for the league, “to grow so the Premier League does not become the biggest competition in the world and we can be at the same level economically”.

To reinforce their growth objectives, the league will be taking their largest ever presence at this year’s Soccerex Global Convention, taking place at the Manchester Central Convention Complex, September 26-28, as part of an expanded institutional partnership.

The Convention provides the perfect platform not only for LaLiga to broaden its presence in the global football industry but also to meet, and network, with some of the game’s most prestigious brands and rights holders, with Adidas, Chevrolet, NFL, UEFA, Red Bull, FOX Sports, Twitter and Samsung just a few of the many leading organizations participating in the event.

As part of the deal, LaLiga will be sponsoring the Soccerex VIP Lounge, which will continue to be rebranded the LaLiga Lounge, as well as having a dedicated exhibition stand. Another key feature of the partnership will see the league hold their their official clubs meeting at the Convention, ensuring a senior commercial representative from every top division LaLiga club will be in attendance. With the Convention’s conference agenda set to deliver unique business insight across a variety of key sectors and subject matters, LaLiga, and its member clubs, will also be featuring on a number of the event’s conference programme sessions.

Following, FIFA Secretary General, Fatma Samoura’s keynote address, President Tebas will be speaking on the ‘International League Expansion’ panel, discussing the league’s global development plans and how their alterations to some of LaLiga’s kick off times will make their matches more accessible to the global market. Fernando Sanz, LaLiga’s General Director for MENA and International Projects, will be supporting this with a presentation on LaLiga’s international growth strategies.

Also featuring on the conference programme will be Adolfo Bara, Sales & Marketing Director, who will lift the lid on the league’s ever expanding sponsorship portfolio, including their recent deal with Santander, on a panel that will also feature Santander, Marketing Director, Filipe Martin Martin, Vauxhall, Head of Sponsorship & Events, Andrew Curley, and Soccer United Marketing, President, Kathy Carter.

Ignacio Trujillo, Managing Director Innovation & Global Development, will be sharing his insight on how LaLiga uses its content on a panel looking at the important role different forms of content play in engaging global audiences through digital and social platforms, and will be joined by Grabyo, CEO, Gareth Capon, Getty Images, Vice President – Sports Imagery and Services, Ken Mainardis, and UFC, Vice President and General Manager – EMEA, James Elliott.

This year’s Convention also sees the introduction of the newly rebranded, Love Football Zone, that will feature discussions and presentations on all aspects of the global game outside elite men’s football. As well as featuring senior representatives from Twitter, FIFA, The FA, English Premier League and the Chinese FA, Pedro Malabia, LaLiga Head of Women’s Football, will be talking about the league’s commitment to the women’s game alongside panelists; Gavin Makel, Head of Women’s Football, Manchester City, Phil Rawlins, President, Orlando FC/Orlando Pride, and Bianca Rech, Team Management Sports, FC Bayern München Women’s football.

Following Atheltic Club’s involvement in a discussion on ‘Stadia of Tomorrow’ on Monday, Wednesday morning will feature a breadth of dedicated club content that will see Atletico de Madrid and Valencia CF, join a host of the world’s biggest clubs in sharing exclusive insight, the Wednesday morning will feature a dedicated Networking Brunch, giving the event’s leading organizations the opportunity to network and share ideas. The event’s Soccermatch platform facilitates sector specific meetings between the industry’s foremost buyers and suppliers, and will feature a strong representation from LaLiga clubs. Given the recent surge in Chinese investment across Spanish football, LaLiga’s presence will also be strongly supported by an extensive Chinese delegation that will see senior representatives from Ali Sports, LeSports and The Arena Capital, participating at Soccerex.
